FlavtArt – the art of flute playing program
Mentor Alenka Zupan, assistant Maruša Gjerek, kinesiologist Maja Bizajl and accompanist Neva Klanjšček.
The participants: Ajda Šopič, Zala Peternel, Julija Marušić, Gaja Cencič, Katerina Bajc (Italy), Natalija Ristić (Serbia), Tinkara Tušar and Kristin Primožič learned, deepened everything about the art of flute playing. During the five-day intensive program of the art of flute playing, the participants connected with each other and gained the appropriate knowledge and guidance for further flute playing. Through performance exercises, they strengthened their self-confidence, by playing in chamber groups and the flute ensemble, they became aware of the importance of cooperation and teamwork, through individual lessons and practicing with assistants, they consolidated their newly acquired knowledge and strengthened their posture, and relaxed during walks, swimming, and numerous creative workshops.
At the introductory outdoor performance and the final performance, the participants fully expressed their feelings and demonstrated five days of intensive work on themselves. They enjoyed the chamber groups and the flute ensemble, which enriched them in making music together. The participants were most satisfied with the warm, relaxed, creative, and trustworthy approach, through which they felt and experienced the art of playing the flute to the fullest.

Hosting of young musicians from North Macedonia in Koper
Organized by the “Association of Music Educators Polyhymnia Skopje” and within the framework of the Erasmus+ Short-term Mobility AME Polyhymnia program, we hosted young musicians from North Macedonia at the Koper Gymnasium, in cooperation with the Koper Music School. Ten young musicians (pianists, flutists, clarinetists and violinists) from various secondary music schools in North Macedonia applied for the Polyhymnia and were given the opportunity to perform in Slovenia, at the Koper Gymnasium from 13 to 19 June 2025.
All students actively participated in a workshop on overcoming stage fright conducted by Alenka Zupan. The experience helped everyone develop stage confidence and gain valuable experience in public performance, which is a good start in further performing and in life.
3. Flavtalnica 2025

On Friday, April 11st and Saturday, April 12nd, 2025, the 3rd Flavtalnica, an intensive weekend workshop, was held at the Koper Music School, under the mentorship of mag. Alenka Zupan. Flavtalnica offered young flautists intensive individual lessons, numerous varied and interesting workshops, which combined new knowledge and insights, chamber music and socializing.
Rich musical experiences are an excellent journey for all participants in further flute playing.

From 3 to 7 April 2025, Alenka Zupan, MA, conducted an active workshop for students entitled PERFORMANCE: how to stay on stage with confidence, how to communicate with the audience, how to maintain concentration and how to deal with all difficulties, as part of the POLYHYMNIA FESTIVAL 2025, at the DMBUC “Ilija Nikolovski-Luj” Secondary Music School, Skopje.
As an invited lecturer, she also conducted a FLUTE WORKSHOP and offered each student appropriate technical and interpretation exercises for a more expressive and richer expression of their feelings.

“In my educational process I have often met with questions from pupils / students such as: “How should I practice? What exercises can improve my technique? Where should I be extra careful?”. To answer shortly, I can only say that you have to get the manuals, written by Alenka Zupan. Manuals are the result of her dedicated and in-depth teaching, studies, as well as practical knowledge when you “stand alone on stage”. Manuals provide ALL the necessary sections, which very carefully and with methodically clear way explain the process from heard to played.
