for students
“We have planned for a long time to invite Alenka Zupan as a lecturer at our school, as part of 2nd Flute day. In fact, we were eager to bring her rich pedagogical knowledge to share with us. Finally, on December 7th, 2013 we realized this wish. We knew what will await us, but nevertheless we were positively surprised by her charismatic presentation of topics that were on the schedule. Of course Alenka can not give her knowledge fully in just one day, so she thoughtfully combined together all the interesting topics. We soon came up with the idea to meet again. Alenka, thank you and we will be happy to listen you next time!  Nataša Burger, flute teacher and Flute day organizor, Zagorje Music School

“Meeting with Alenka Zupan was special. Her sensitivity, sympathy, musicality and expressiveness marked me for sure. Her concert to convey the vast knowledge and experience as an educator, and thus find solutions for ptoblems of implementation and interpretation, inspired and graciously helped in the growth of various musical students who she met and heard in Brazil, including me. Play with heart and energy,” she told us at every moment. I had a great privilege of being able to be heard and taught in a particular way when she visited us at the Brazilian Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro. Banja Luka Flute Association WORKSHOP: BETTER PERFORMANCE

for teachers and students

The insights Alenka Zupan shared with workshop participants, the awareness of the musical work, the breaking down of barriers between musical works and artists, as well as a barrier between artist and audience, belonging to the universal knowledge that Alenka systematically adjusted to flutists and led them to the demystification of fear and nervousness. This way, opened the way for an artist to be aware of a single channel between the work and the listener.
Her dedication and commitment is something we are all very grateful for.”

PRESENTATION OF THE MANUALS: Exercises for Flute I, II and III.

for students of Academy of Music Ljubljana

“In my educational process I have often met with questions from pupils / students such as: “How should I practice? What exercises can improve my technique? Where should I be extra careful?”. To answer shortly, I can only say that you have to get the manuals, written by Alenka Zupan. Manuals are the result of her dedicated and in-depth teaching, studies, as well as practical knowledge when you “stand alone on stage”. Manuals provide ALL the necessary sections, which very carefully and with methodically clear  way explain the process from heard to played. Besides all the technical elements, the biggest impression bring particularly her “biblical” 10 golden rules that we (not just flutists!) should follow, and will allow us to enjoy our musical journey.” Matej Zupan, professor of flute at Academy of Music Ljubljana, Slovenia

I will gladly perform regular exercises for relaxation, concentration and interpretation as the atmosphere in the hall and on stage was much more relaxed and the interpretation much more expressive already after the completion of this first workshop. The difference between the participants’ initial and final performance was amazing, the progress we made an inevitable result of your workshop.” Joca Zurc, a 9th year student of classical accordion in the class of Erika Udovič – Kovačič, MA, teacher at the Koper Music School

SEMINAR: Scene performance, mastering fear and playing with intention

Participant feedback on the workshop: “Your seminar was very interesting and useful. So far, Croatia has seen no opportunity to address the concept and psychology of performance in such a way. The feedback and comments from the participants are excellent. It would be wonderful if students and teachers had the opportunity of regularly work on their performance awareness. Tone projection, interpretation intensity, communication with the audience exclusively through music, that is through live music and creative tone without employing external elements such as movement, are the basics of artistic interpretation, which is often forgotten. Your persistent demands that we should communicate only through tone and the manners in which the tone expressions can be modified or/and developed were very effective, your exercises very instructive. The simplicity of the exercises and the ease with which they lead you to better results are incredible indeed. Your seminar was such an enriching experience for me that I am very grateful that you have decided to come and share your knowledge and experience with us.” Renata Penezić,
